Welex – Westerhout at the time – was established in 1920. In its original form, Westerhout was a contracting company. The company started selling railway sleepers and dragline panes in 1968. A business still in its infancy at the time, but that has since experienced immense growth. Nowadays Welex B.V. is an international trading company and a real family business. Several generations are working together on their great passion: solid wood mats that live up to every project, no matter how big or small.

How can we be so sure of our quality? For years, we have produced our mats under our own management. From the import of hardwood to the very last bolts. We have since become the world’s largest producer of crane mats.

Our family business’ Head Office is located in Lexmond. All our crane mats are produced here. We also have different branches in Germany and England. This allows us to offer our services all over Europe.

We are not only the largest producer of crane mats; we also like to take it a step further. We understand that you prefer to be working on what really counts: your project. That is why we also like to provide you with the transport and the preparatory work of our crane mats. And if repairs are needed, it isn’t a problem; we can also be of assistance to you.
